After unveiling a string of gaming laptops at CES 2019 in January, Asus has launched them in India. The latest Republic of Gamers (ROG) series gaming laptops which include the Zephyrus, Strix Hero and the Strix Scar have been launched. In addition, the company has even launched a gaming desktop PC. All these feature the new Nvidia GeForce RTX graphics processors.
Asus claims that these laptops will feature the 144Hz displays, the all-new 8th Gen Coffee Lake Intel Core CPU, together with slim screen borders and some innovative cooling solutions. All three models are up for sale, whereas the company is yet to launch the ROG Mothership model in India.
The ROG Strix Scar II and the ROG Strix Hero II models are priced at INR 1,64,990 and have similarities between them. The Scar series is aimed at first-person shooter players and consist of the gunmetal lid, red accents and printed camouflage pattern, together with translucent WASD keycaps. Whereas the Hero series has a cyber-text printed pattern and has QWER keys for MOBA-style games. Let’s have a look at what’s in common with each of them:
- Both have RGB backlit keyboards with four lighting zones
- Both have an RGB LED light bar
- Both have an illuminated ROG logo
In terms of specifications, both the laptops in the Scar series host a 15.6-inch 144Hz anti-glare full-HD screen, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 GPU and are powered by a six-core Intel core i7-8750H processor. In terms of storage options, there is a 256GB PCIe SSD and another 1TB SSHD at 5400rpm. In addition to the above, they also support a USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C and Type-A port each, along with two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, Mini DisplayPort and HDMI video outputs, an SD card slot, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, and Bluetooth 5.
As for the ROG Scar II is concerned, there is another version available with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 GPU and with a storage space of 512GB SSD. All other specifications are the same as mentioned above. This variant costs you around 2,09,990.
Coming to the third type, the new ROG Zephyrus S GX531, is touted as the world’s slimmest gaming laptop with thickness between 15.35mm and 16.15mm. The new laptop has a patented cooling system with anti-dust fans, four heatsinks and five heatpipes.
In terms of specifications, the new gaming laptop hosts a 15.6-inch 144Hz anti-glare full-HD screen, six-core Intel Core i7-8750H processor, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 GPU with Max-Q optimization The Zephyrus laptop has a 512GB PCIe SSD, but no secondary storage. In addition to the above, the gaming laptop has support for USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C and Type-A ports as well as one USB 3.1 Gen1 port, HDMI and Mini DisplayPort video outputs, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, and Bluetooth 5. Priced at INR 2,39,990, the Zephyrus gaming laptop is up for sale.
Another variant of the ROG Zephyrus is the Zephyrus SGX701 variant, which is also the top-end variant with a 17.3-inch Pantone validated G-sync enabled 144Hz anti-glare full-HD screen and GeForce RTX 2080 with Max-Q optimization GPU. The laptop has RGB backlighting in every key and also a numeric touchpad which is integrated into the trackpad. Powering this laptop is a Core i7-8750H CPU with 24GB of DDR4 RAM and 1TB PCIe SSD as storage. The laptop also has support for USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C port with DisplayPort video output and power delivery support, another USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-C port, and USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-A and Type-C ports. There’s also HDMI video output, Bluetooth 5, and Wi-Fi 802.11ac. The laptop is priced at INR 3,49,990 in India.
In addition to all the above gaming laptops, Asus has also revealed three variants of its ROG GL12 CX gaming desktop. It comes with a custom closed-loop liquid cooler for heat dissipation and is factory overclocked. Prices for the base variant start at INR 2,13,990 and has an Intel Core i7-8700 CPU with an Intel B360 chipset-based motherboard, Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, 512GB PCIe SSD and 1TB hard drive.
The next variant has similar specs, but one can step up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM and a 2TB hard drive for INR 2,19,990, but the PCIe SSD is 256GB,which is a step down.
The top-end variant is priced at Rs. 3,29,990 and features a 9th Gen Intel Core i9-9900K CPU, Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 GPU, Intel Z390-based motherboard, 32GB of DDR4 RAM, 512GB PCIe SSD and 2TB hard drive. All three variants also feature DVD-RW drives, Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, and Bluetooth 5.
