After months of leaks, Nokia has finally taken the covers of the Nokia 9 PureView smartphone at the ongoing MWC 2019 in Barcelona. Part of Google’s Android One program, the biggest attraction of Nokia 9 PureView is its five-lens camera setup at the rear. The five-lens camera supports three monochrome and two RGB lens, with the same f/1.82 aperture.
Other notable specs of the newly launched phone include a 5.99-inch 2K screen, powered by Qualicomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and houses 6GB of RAM. The Nokia 9 PureView runs on Android 9 Pie and features an improved Pro Camera interface.
Price and Availability of Nokia 9
As per the company, HMD Global, the all-new Nokia 9 PureView carries a price tag of $699( approx. INR 49,700) and will be up for pre-orders, immediately, but only in select markets. The model will start shipping only in March, 2019 and will be available in only one color option: Midnight Blue.
HMD Global, though hasn’t confirmed details about the price and availability of the new phone in India, however there would’t be much of a difference in the pricing, as compared to the global one.

The Nokia 9 PureView’s camera system has been developed in partnership with Light. The smartphone maker has also worked closely with the likes of Qualcomm and Google so as to optimize their camera setup. The association would result in better utilization and understanding of the power of Snapdragon 845 SoC and also collaborate with Google’s Photo app.
Coming to the lenses, the Nokia 9 PureView pack in a staggering five lenses, which are all Zeiss certified and consist of three 12MP monochrome sensors and two 12MP RGB sensors. The functionality of the five lenses comes in light when one takes a shot, which triggers each lens and then the phone fuses each image taken by the five cameras together to produce a single image. For the selfie-lovers, the company has packed in a 20MP selfie camera, in the front.
Coming to the screen, the new smartphone sports a 5.99-inch Quad HD+(1440×2960 pixels) POLED screen with a 18.5:9 aspect ratio. It also has an in-display fingerprint sensor. The smartphone is available in only one variant and packs in 6GB of RAM, 128GB of inbuilt storage, houses a 3,320mAh battery and also supports wireless charging. Additional specs include support for connectivity options like Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC.
The Nokia 9 PureView is IP67 certified, which means that it is resistant to water and dust. For charging it has a USB Type-C port and surprisingly does not include a 3.5mm audio jack. The inclusion of a Pro Camera user-interface also allows the users to have complete control of the five lenses, even helping them to shoot native monochrome images.
