Samsung along with its Galaxy S10 lineup, the Galaxy 5G and the Galaxy Fold, launched a new set of true wireless earbuds, called the Galaxy Buds. After the gear IconX, the Galaxy Buds are the next-gen true wireless earbuds and are also 30% smaller than the previous ones.
Just like the Airpods from Apple and other competitor earbuds, the Galaxy Buds come with a charging case and are compatible with Samsung’s Wireless PowerShare feature that allows them to be charges wirelessly by the Galaxy S10 series of smartphones. The new earbuds have been tuned by the Austrian audio specialist firm AKG and are even compatible with the Bixby voice-based virtual assistant on the various Galaxy devices.
Pricing of the Samsung Galaxy Buds
The price of the Samsung Galaxy Buds was unveiled to be $129 (approx. 9,200) and will be available from March 8 in limited markets. The color options available for the earbuds are Black, Yellow and White.
Features and Specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Buds
The Galaxy earbuds come with a 5.8pi dynamic driver and uses Bluetooth 5.0 for connectivity. The virtual-assistant Bixby understands instructions in British English, German, Italian and Spanish languages. The Korean company is also touting an “Enhanced Ambient Sound” feature along with the the tuning from AKG, that helps users hear their surroundings when required. Another outstanding feature of the earbuds is that they have Adaptive Dual Microphone tech, which features one inner microphone and one outer microphone in each earbud which lets users be audible when speaking both in quiet and loud environments.
The earbuds come with a 58mAh battery in each earbud, which help in delivering up to 5hrs of calling or up to 6hrs of music playback on a single charge. The charging case features a 252mAh battery that helps boost up the charge by 7hrs, thereby increasing the music playback time to 13hrs and talk time to 11hrs. The company claims the above and also the fact that the charging case delivers up to 1.7hrs of playback with a 15-min charge.
Each earbud in the Galaxy Buds weighs 5.6gms, while the case itself weighs 39.6gms. There are various other features which include an accelerometer, proximity sensor and even touch sensors (for controlling playback and taking calls). They even have an ear on/off detection. While the charging case is powered by USB Type-C, the earbuds are compatible with Android devices running v5.0 or higher and require 1.5GB of RAM or more. The earbuds support SBC, AAC, Scalable(Samsung Proprietary) codecs, while measuring 17.5×19.4×22, whereas the charging case measures 38.8x70x26.5mm.
