Xiaomi is leaving no stone unturned, in terms of promoting the Mi 9, just before its launch, tomorrow. The official account and the company’s CEO Lei Jun have shared a number of renders of the smartphone. All images that have been shared are either shot on the back or side of the mobile and the company is maintaining to elude the front of the phone. But, there is an update: CEO Lei Jun has confirmed that the new Mi 9 will pack in Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 855 SoC.
Xiaomi’s Mi 9 is not the first smartphone to use Snapdragon 855, in fact Lenovo has already used the flagship chip in its Z5 Pro GT smartphone in December, 2018.
In addition to the news about the chipset, Xiaomi’s official account has published new renders of the Mi 9 with a pink-blue gradient finish. Earlier the company had shared images of the smartphone in blue-green gradient finish. Xiaomi calls it a “nano-scale laser holography process, plus double layer coating” to create the “holographic illusion” colors.
Further to all these developments, Donovan Sung, the global spokesperson of Xiaomi, has already teased the presence of an in-display fingerprint sensor. Other rumors suggest that the Mi 9 will arrive with Android 9 Pie, a large 3,500mAH battery and a 6.4-inch AMOLED screen with a waterdrop-style notch.
Together with the above, the Xiaomi Mi 9 will also pack a triple camera setup and a 24MP front shooter.
In addition to the Mi 9, Xiaomi might also launch the Mi Router at the same event, just similar to the events by Apple. Stay tuned as we cover all the details of the launch, being held in Beijing, China.
